Portland Public Schools has a job opening for Nutrition Services Program Manager. Under general direction, the Program Manager develops systems and directs others to provide high quality food and customer service and to ensure compliance with all required regulations related to the Child Nutrition Program and the district policies. Manage a team responsible for approximately 20-24 schools in the Portland School District .
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
- Ensure schools are in compliance with all Federal, State and Local regulations and policies.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and if necessary, corrective actions for employees not meeting expectations.
- Assist in the hiring and training of employees.
- Develop work schedules and other training materials to support staff.
- Analyze individual school profit and loss report; use data to continuously improve programs and staffing for break-even site operations.
- Work with team to develop action plans for increasing participation in school meal programs or lowering food and/or labor costs at individual schools.
- Develop and communicate department Standard Operating Procedures and district policies.
- Work with Principals, local PTA and other school personnel in the planning and implementation of programs relating to the Child Nutrition Program or District Wellness policy.
- Drive to and from assigned schools daily.

Portland Public Schools is now accepting applications for Nutrition Services Roving Leads and Nutrition Assistant Rovers on a rolling basis. The work year for these positions starts in August and continues through June, with summers off and follows the district calendar.
Nutrition Services Roving Leads are responsible for day-to-day operations of Nutrition Services programs in Portland Public Schools and work on days that school is in session for students (Monday to Friday).
- Additional summer work options available (not guaranteed)
- Rovers are on-call with assignments that are regularly scheduled and can be a few days/week-long assignments or sometimes month-long (or longer) at a time at a specific school.
- Assignments are made via phone call between 5:00AM – 6:00AM. Must be available for 6:30 a.m. start times
- Shifts vary from 6 to 8 hours daily, scheduled between 6:30AM and 3:00PM.
Part-time Nutrition Assistant Rovers work on days when school is in session for students, Monday to Friday. This position requires the ability to report to all locations within the Portland Public Schools District (City of Portland), so flexibility is essential.
- Assistant Rovers receive continued assignments throughout the school year, working up to 5.5 hours per day.
- Assignments are made via phone call between 6:00AM – 6:30AM.
- Shifts vary and are typically from 2 to 5.5 hours daily, scheduled between 7:30AM and 2:30PM.
- Additional optional summer work options are available (not guaranteed).
