In conjunction with the OSNA State Conference and Food Show, the Oregon Dairy and Nutrition Council is sponsoring a pre-conference Agriculture Tour on Friday, March 9. The bus tour will feature visits to Abiqua Dairy, Norpac and Truitt Bros. in the Salem area.

Spokane Public Schools Seeks Nutrition Services Supervisor

The Spokane Public Schools Nutrition Services is looking for motivated school nutrition professional to join their team.  This position is responsible for menu development, nutrient analysis, recipe development, and leadership in growing the newly designed scratch menu program, USDA school meal program audit compliance, and development of training programs for staff on menu and meal program requirements. The Nutrition Services Supervisor will collaborate with principals, teachers, parents, and community members to monitor and improve the program, and will work with menu software and web-based programs to develop and communicate menus, allergies, and nutrient information.

Candidates Wanted for OSNA Board and Area Rep Election

The Oregon School Nutrition Association (OSNA) will hold elections for 2018-19 positions on its Executive Board from Feb. 26 – March 4. The positions open are:
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Area 2 Rep
  • Area 4 Rep
  • Area 6 Rep
We encourage all interested OSNA members to run for office in our association! To qualify, a candidate must be an SNA member and possess a Level 1 Certificate. The Treasurer and Area Representatives each serve a 2-year commitment, beginning 8/1/18 and ending 7/31/20.

The position of Vice President is a 4-year commitment, from 8/1/18 – 7/31/22. This position rotates forward each consecutive year of service in the following order: Vice President, President Elect, President, and Past President. During the year in which you serve as President Elect, you will plan the 2020 OSNA State Conference and in 2022, you will manage the Vendor Show for the 2022 OSNA State Conference.

All positions attend four board meetings per year and help with OSNA’s State Conference in March of each year.

ODE Seeks Director, Child Nutrition Programs

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) is recruiting for a permanent, full-time Director, Child Nutrition Programs. This position is located in Salem, Oregon, and is in Management Service.

This position:

  • Directs the operations of the Child Nutrition Programs by overseeing the administrative, and support activities consistent with policies and procedures established by USDA and ODE. Determines the most effective utilization of resources in order to carry out ODE goals and objectives for providing service to program sponsors and participants.
  • Ensure ODE is in compliance with the Federal Code of Regulations 7 parts 210 -250, 3016 and 3019 (National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, At Risk-Snack and Supper Program; Summer Food Service Program, Snack Program; USDA Foods Program); Section 18 of the 2008 Farm Bill (the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Programs); and Oregon Laws related to ODE CNP such as the Oregon Farm to School and School-Based Garden Program.
  • Develops and implement statewide policies, goals, and objectives consistent with Oregon law and federal laws, rules and regulations for USDA Child Nutrition Programs.
  • Provides overall supervision and leadership to CNP staff, as a management level team member, and represents Oregon at the federal level.
