OSNA Donates Buddy Bears
Posted by Julie Bricher in News

(From left) Lynne Shore and Cindi Hiatt-Henry deliver OSNA's Buddy Bear program donation to Lieutenant Mike Peterson of the Oregon State Police. On behalf of OSNA, Executive Board members Cindi Hiatt-Henry and Lynne Shore delivered an array of stuffed animals to the Oregon State Police for use in their “Buddy Bear” program, which helps children deal with traumatic occurrences. When police officers, detectives, and records division personnel come in contact with children who have been involved in traumatic incidents, they are able to give the children something they can cuddle and hold to help promote dialogue and a feeling of safety. OSNA thanks all of its members who brought stuffed animals to our State Conference Friday Fun Night event for donation to this worthy cause!

Celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 1
Posted by Julie Bricher in Awards & Recognition , Events , News

Between preparing healthy meals for America’s students, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies and offering service with a smile, school nutrition professionals are true heroes!

School Lunch Hero Day, May 1, 2015,  is the perfect opportunity to recognize the hardworking professionals in school cafeterias. The School Nutrition Association has partnered with Jarrett J. Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” book series, and Random House, to remind everyone—directors, managers, parents, students, and school staff —that school nutrition employees are superheroes that deserve some recognition.

The day aims to showcase the ways in which school nutrition professionals make a difference for every child who comes through the cafeteria.
