Pre-Registration for Friday Classes
Please download the 2017 OSNA State Conference Registration form to register for these pre-conference classes, which will be held on Friday, March 10. The registration deadline for both ServSafe and the SNS Exam is Feb. 17, 2017.
(Free) Nutrition 101: A Taste of Food and Fitness (Institute of Child Nutrition, www.nfsmi.org) is limited to the first 50 people pre-registered. This 8-hour class provides a basic overview of nutrition and helps to underscore the importance of nutrition in daily life. The program offers tools for guiding food choices, information on macronutrients and micronutrients, information to assist you in making good diet decisions, and an overview of nutrition issues in the media. (This course qualifies for SNA core course certification level 1.)
($90) The ServSafe program helps prepare you for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification exam. Training covers these concepts:. Learn about foodborne illness, how to prevent it and how to train employees in food sanitation.
(See website) The School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) Credentialing Exam registration and fees for the SNS Exam is handled directly through the School Nutrition Association (SNA). The SNS Credential is a mark of excellence and achievement that reflects what it takes to manage school nutrition programs in today’s challenging climate. The SNS Credentialing Exam evaluates candidates’ knowledge and skills required to perform specific job activities related to managing or directing school nutrition programs. (Free) USDA Foods: WBSCM Ordering Refresher Training is provided by the Oregon Department of Education Food Distribution Program about how to place orders in the USDA’s Web-Based-Supply-Chain-Management-System (WBSCM) for School Year 2017-18. The WBSCM Refresher training will be offered twice, from 9:00-12:00 and again from 1:00-4:00 on March 10. This training will be held at the ODE Public Service Building, and each class is limited to the first 20 who pre-register.
